The Cereus Monstrose species, also known as the Monstrose Apple Cactus, Andes Organ Pipe, Hedge Cactus, Queen of the Night, or Hildmann’s Cereus, is a highly sought-after cactus for its unique and varied appearance as well as its sculptural qualities. Its twisted and contorted form creates a sense of movement and dynamic energy, making it a perfect addition to any modern or contemporary art collection.
Furthermore, as this cactus is low maintenance and can survive in a wide range of conditions, it is a great option for those who want to add a living art piece to their collection without having to devote a lot of time and energy to its care.
Perfect for garden beds, pots, and planters, some Monstrose are rich with a powdery blue film, whereas others are dark green. Despite the vast variety of Monstrose cacti available, all feature stunning large night blooming white flowers in warmer months. In terms of frost, this plant is more tolerant as it ages. Protect new growth from frost with either a styrofoam cup or hessian bag to avoid frost burn. Other than the occasional mealybug or scale infestation, this species requires little upkeep and maintenance. Cactus Vision favours this plant for many feature locations. They can handle full-day sun, but we prefer to use these in half-day sun locations to maintain their rich colour.
