The Cereus Forbesii Spiralis, also known as the Cereus Validus, Contorted Cereus, Spiralled Cereus, or Twisting Cactus, is a unique and mysterious plant that hails from the hardy genus, Cereus. This cactus is easy to cultivate, grow, and care for, making it a perfect addition to any garden.

First discovered in Peru and imported into Europe in the early 80s, this species is a mutation that occurred in the wild. Initially, only one single tree had been discovered, but it has since been cloned and propagated. Now, after many decades, you can add this gorgeous example of organic mutation to your collection, as a variety of cross-pollinated Cereus Spiralis cacti have been newly introduced to Australia.

Growing as striking column plants with exquisite large cream flowers, this faster-growing species can reach heights of 2-4 meters tall, with many twisting arms. In terms of care, be mindful not to keep this twisting Triton in cold weather over winter, it is not a fan of prolonged periods of frost.

At Cactus Vision, we're obsessed with planting these spiraling cacti in feature pots and planter beds. They can also begin to sprawl when planted in the ground, making for an unpredictable feature and focal point. They're like a work of art that is unpredictable in growth.

In terms of pests, be on the watch for mealybug and scale. We hope you'll enjoy this unique and fascinating cactus as much as we do.
