ORIGIN
Southwestern United States and northern Mexico
WATER
Water when soil is almost completely dry during warm active growth. Keep much drier in winter, especially in cool conditions. Must have excellent drainage.
OUTDOORS
Full sun to bright sun. Best in a hot, open position with sandy or free-draining soil.
INDOORS
Not ideal long term, but possible in very bright light only. Best outdoors or in a greenhouse-style position.
FROST TOLERANT
High tolerance once established. Handles cold and frost well if kept dry with excellent drainage.
GROWTH RATE
Slow. Forms a narrow trunk with a rounded crown of fine, blue-green leaves, eventually becoming tree-like with age.
FLOWERS
Tall spikes of creamy white bell-shaped flowers once mature, usually in warmer months.
PETS & CHILDREN
Position with caution, away from foot traffic. Leaf tips are sharp and can injure children or pets.
